Our Board

KNEF is governed by its Board, President, and Vice President. Together they are ultimately responsible for its direction, supported by committees. The running of the charity is the responsibility of the board and advisory groups to decide where to invest our time, money, and expertise.

Charles Kwasi Gyan

Founder/President

Charles is a trained paralegal in Ontario, Canada, and also has a degree in international development.
 
His ambition is to complete his Law degree in Canada while following his passion for poverty eradication.

Cherie Sexsmith

Vice President

BFA, Masters in Education, Cherie is a teacher, author and illustrator in Hong Kong.

She is on KNEF’s grant writing and curriculum development committee.

Prof. Nicholas Bastine

Board Member

Prof. Nicholas is a professor of Legal Studies at Osgoode Hall and a contract lawyer.

Tanya Freed

Board Member

Tanya Freed, BFA, MA Art Ed., is a non-profit professional with more than 15 years experience
as an educator, arts manager, cultural worker and community connector. Tanya has been a supporter and board member of KNEF Ghana since
2010, and is excited about the growth and success of KNEF Canada.

Heike Ohlmeyer

Board Member

BA and ESL educator, Heike is a teacher by profession. She has collected second-hand clothes and school supplies and has taken most of the pictures you see on our website.
 

She is working on fundraising and contacts.

Christine is an office administrator and has been associated with KNEF from the beginning. She has enjoyed watching the charity grow.
